- Kiha 261 - 1000 appeared in 2006 for the replacement of Kiha 183 - 0. In line with the opening of the Hokkaido Shinkansen, the group that appeared in FY 2015 for increased use between Hakodate and Sapporo had some specifications changed, and the head logo was changed from the previous [Tilt 261] to the previous [HET 261] logo.

- Kiha 261-1000 series is an express diesel car that appeared in 2006 as a replacement for the Kiha 183-0 series.
