Eva Heard About This?
Konnichiwa! This is Tomeko.

Today, I seem... to have a hangover. And a big one!
I guess I knocked backed too many glasses of sake last night.
But, don't worry about me, I'm totally cool. I'm not so think as you drunk I am!

Anyway, I believe most fans can hardly wait for the premiere of "Evangelion New Theatrical Version: Division," which is scheduled for the 27th of June this year.
And the brand-new bespectacled character joining the story was announced the other day: Mari Illustrious Makinami, voiced by Maaya Sakamoto, who is indubitably among the most renounced "seiyu," or voice actors, in Japan.
You probably know about her, but Maaya is a 29-year-old Japanese woman gifted with a voice that is stunningly beautiful and somehow, in a peculiar sort of way, tranquil.

Now, here is some trivia on "Eva" that you might enjoy.
Did you know that most of the main characters in the series have their names derived from military ships of WWII era?
For instance, "Rei Ayanami" comes from the IJN destroyer "Ayanami," "Asuka Langley Soryu" from combining the Japanese ship "Soryu" and the one of the U.S. navy "Langley," both of them aircraft carriers, and "Misato Katsuragi" from yet another carrier of the former Japanese navy "Katsuragi."

"Hikari Horaki," the class representative, is loaned from the bullet train Hikari, so she is an exception.

The new character, Mari Illustrious Makinami, also got her name from ships of war, namely the JIN destroyer "Makinami" and the British aircraft carrier "Illustrious."

Hmm, it might be fun to do some research into what exactly your favorite characters are named after.

And, in case you haven't even seen the first theatrical version of Evangelion called "Jo," or "Beginning," let's make sure to check it out before the second one comes out in June!
