Hyakugabasu of HOBBY SEARCH is here again. Today's trivia is this. Once upon a time there was an F-1 racing car which had 6 wheels. Below is an evidence photo.  Why don't we count them together? Let's see. One, two, three.... Well, so it does!! It really does have 6 wheels, not just 4 as ordinary racing cars do! Today, let me introduce to you Tyrell P34 6 wheeler of Tamiya! Tyrell P34 6 wheeler flabbergasted the world with its out-of-the-ordinary appearance when it made its debut in 1976. The radical idea of mounting four front wheels on a racing car grasped the hearts of all F-1 aficionados in the 70's as it still does now. I happen to be a great admirer of this model, too. In addition to being manufactured in the 1/12 scale, most of the parts of this model are pre-painted, making it even more beginners-friendly than, say NSR250, the one I introduced in my previous blog.  Disc brake parts are shiningly pre-painted, or "pre-coated," and glittering silverish very much like the real deal!!  As you can see, they are realistic enough as they are. This is how they look when painted and mounted on the model.  So, very cool!! But the 6 wheels are not the only thing that gets you drooling over this Tamiya kit. Photo-ethced parts are included in the kit to render the inside of the cockpit even more realistic, almost too real.  The engineers involved in the development of Tyrrell P34 decided to make it a 6-wheeler, not so much because they wanted to make it look cool, although it surely does, as because they wanted to ensure a greater ground contact area and braking capabilities. Funny, isn' it? A pure pursuit for greater performance results in great appearance. If you are a total novice in plastic modeling, cementing process is a bit tough with this kit, but you are going to have a great, enjoyable learning experience. I hope you will have fun.
