And just like that, the weekend is over and Monday is here.
It feels as if Diavolo used Epitaph on me and erased that time away.
.........!!!
Well then, let's pull ourselves together for another week ahead of us, shall we?
Today I'll be writing about Rei Ayanami figures!
There are lots and lots of figures of Rei out there.
They're all the same Rei but differ in facial expression, hair color, outfit, pose, and so on, and each shows you a different side of her.
Especially her trademark blue hair - it can be solid, translucent, gradient, bluish white, and so on, and each produces a distinct feel.
This figure's translucent hair gives it a unique look.
Ayanami Rei Plug Suit Ver. (Kotobukiya)
This 1/6 scale model of Rei was first made in 2007 to coincide with the theatrical release of Rebuild of Evangelion 1.0, and is being rereleased this October.
The base is a statue of EVA Unit 00.
Her plug suit covers her entire body but it only serves to emphasize her wondrous curves.
A solemn, even sorrowful expression...
Rei's pale skin, blue hair, and red eyes -
This color set was supposedly picked so that in the case that Evangelion was ever made into a game, blue hair and red eyes would make it immediately apparent that it was her even in pixellated graphics.
If video games back then had the 3D graphics technology of today, we might have seen a different Rei. Black hair, perhaps.
But even then, Rei will always be the fair skinned, blue haired, and red eyed girl to me.
This trio of color looks great on these figures as well.
Marvelous...
These curves are just too beautiful...!
Lots of Rei figures have her in a plug suit, but she's nice in a yukata too!
Ayanami Rei -Yukata Ver.- (Kotobukiya)
Rei...
That Rei...!
She's smiling! At me!
I think I'm falling in love!
...Is what you might say upon seeing this amazing figure.
Yukata are nice, and even nicer when they look as good as this one does on Rei.
According to Anno, the director of the series, Rei doesn't show emotion not only because she has none, but only because she doesn't know emotions.
However, I think this figure is of a Rei that knows emotions.
Perhaps she learned them in her time with Shinji and the others.
This figure comes with a candy apple and a
kinchaku purse.
It's so good I just want to lick it!
Oh, I'm talking about the candy and not Rei, of course. Don't get me wrong here!
Here's another nice figure of Rei in a yukata.
Ayanami wet in August (Amie-Grand)
Don't hold your yukata up like that... Don't look at me like that...
I think I'm falling...! *cough*
Thanks to Ayanami, this blog's colors are a bit more refreshingly cool now.
Let's make it through another week of summer heat!
See you again!
