Brothers of a foreign country
Good evening, Kapinozuka here, making a random appearance on a Saturday.

Let's start with this item here.

Here is a Mysterious Locomotive!
Mitsubishi RENFE 269 #269-248-1 TALGO 200 Blanco/Gris

At a quick glance, there may be people that thinks
"Is it a new coloring for EF60 or EF65!?",
but it is not.

The white and grey coloring, with a thin strip of blue, this here is the "Type 269 Electric Locomotive" of Spain National Railways, a.k.a. RENFE.

For those that is wondering what I'm talking about,
here is something to compare with.

J.N.R. Electric Locomotive Type EF61-8 Improvement Product/Brown

EF65-500 (Type F)
EF65-500 (Type F)

Try comparing these two with the above.
The placement of headlights at the front is quite similar to the type EF 60 or type EF 61, isn't it?
And the front window being two thin wide pieces are like that of the type EF 65 too.
And what about the windows and door of the control room?
Shifting focus to the rooftop, the pantograph being placed at the front and back, with long equipment between them called the monitor.

There are many similarities if you look carefully,
but it hasn't been copied or anything, at any rate.

There is a good reason why the format is similar,
as the company that created the type269 and sent it to Spain is
none other than Mitsubishi Electric!

Mitsubishi had developed the Electric Locomotive type EF52, with the help of Hitachi, Toshiba, and Kawasaki, and in 1928 had supplied it to the National Railways. And since then, they have been continuing to create electric locomotives, so their know-how sure is certain.

The RENFE type 269 had been supplied between the 1970s to the 1980s, with a total production of a whooping 265 cars including the licensed production in Spain as well. Needless to say, it has become on of the most used electric locomotives in Spain.

And, it is actively towing a variety of trains, including freight cars and high-speed trains etc. It's even towing the international train [Talgo] too. It really is at an almighty position like that of the Japanese Type EF65 that is towing trains such as freight trains to Blue Trains etc.

There are a variety of coloring for the RENFE type 269, to match their use or their train.

This time, we've re-stocked 11 items in N-Scale the other day. Please take a look at the vivid coloring too.

Anyway, that was it for the discussion about the brother/ relative? of the foreign country, Type EF 60 and EF65, aka RENFE Type 269.

By Kapinozuka, who is amazed at the amount of Japanese made trains active around the world.
