Is it from the sea, or from the mountains?
This and that, stuff these days.

All in one.

Crap n miso are the same...... errrr... I apologize, that's probably not right.

Hey everyone, Tomeko here.

Land Wasser Schlepper (Mid-Production)

This is rather a personal point of view, but when I actually saw this at first, I thought it looked a little uncoo...... I mean, I admired the original style of a boat with the caterpillar tracks equipped, yes...
I would never think that its appearance isn't very attractive at all.
Whether it may be people or weapons, it's whats on the inside that matters, right?

......right, then.
Allow me to give a serious explanation here.

...

......

There are many situations that could arise when an army fights another army.
For example, field combat, above sea combat, in-city/street combat etc. etc.

And out of the situations, a particularly special combat is the "Landing Warfare".

Just as the name suggests, it is the battle between the invasion troops from the sea and the interception troops that awaits the invaders at shore.

Of course, if the invaders were to just land up front, then they will simply just become the prey of the intercepting troops, so when they try to land, air units will normally support them with bombers and landing crafts (such as the Wasp we've introduced here before) as they enter combat.

Now, this LSW here, it seems that it on its own does not have combat capabilities, but was developed as a "towing car".
Soooo, I guess it won't go running straight on the front-line, but rather follow the striking team or something.
Apparently, it has the capacity to carry 20+2 soldiers + drivers.

This is the interior image seen from above. We can see 3 large chimneys, and a drivers seats?. Although my knowledge may be poor, allow me to touch a little on its development history.

In the early period of Second World War,
Taking down the French with great force, the Germans shifted their target to mainland of UK. And for that, they were required to develop a variety of weapons for landing. And the LWS was one of these developments.

However, they never actually carried out the landing mission onto the UK (Code name: Operation Sealion), so the LWS was instead sent to the North Africa and Eastern Front etc. to be used as supply transporter.

It may have been unexpectedly rather useful, as there have been other versions with improved mobility.
From Bronco Model, the Mid-production version is on sale, so it would be interesting to compare the build!

Oh yeah, about the performance of this LWS.
It can go up to 35km/h on land, and 12km/h on water, apparently (taken from the description text).

The speed of Panzer IV is 38km, I hear, so the mobility on ground is rather decent, it seems. Now, regarding its speed on water...... what should I be comparing it to? 12km/h is roughly 6.5knots, so for a small boat, it may be slightly slow? Ish? Maybe.

So this LWS here, the development purpose and its capabilities are unexpectedly decent, but personally, not so hot on the apperan......
Oh and I also do wonder bout maintenance for the tracks that's been soaked in seawater. It might rust really fast...

However, Bronco Model comes up with an interestingly rare, or rather, mysterious kits each month, so they are a company I personally am drawn to.
So I think this is a nice kit for those of you who want to build a slightly deep model.

All right then, that's it for today!
Thanks for reading, see you next time, here on the Hobby Search Blog!
