"I want it to be something you have so much fun with that it falls apart."
At long last...
She's finally made it to the figma series...

The third in the character vocal series, cool and mysterious...

Megurine Luka figma!!!

I've been waiting for this moment :'D

This is the first Vocaloid figma since Rin/Len were released in November 2008!
Preorders just opened up, but she's already risen to second place, just behind Dead Master. Simply amazing!

The metallic color on her clothes, headset, and boots are just gorgeous!

Singing face!
Her face piece can be swapped out with this expression.
The included old-fashioned mic is also colored a fine champagne gold.
You can stage a live performance with Miku and the others!

But that's not all!
The mic is a nice addition, but there's one more very nice piece included.
figma Miku came with a mic and a leek, but Luka here comes with... wait for it...

Ooma-san the tuna!

They don't skimp anywhere! Everything inside is incredibly awesome!
You could even play around with just Ooma-san!
(By the way, Ooma-san is named after Ooma, Aomori, where he's supposedly from.)
I always thought, a figma Luka has to come with a frozen tuna!
So I'm really happy about this.

Like Miku's leek and Rin/Len's steamroller, it's been tradition for fans to come up with Vocaloids' items.
Luka was no exception and people debated what she would use.
Besides the frozen tuna, another candidate was a shovel.
A shovel was the weapon of "Weepy Eyed Luka" in part 5 of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure.
If that had been chosen, it would definitely have changed her look. (Although Ooma-san is still a weapon!)

And if you're wondering why a frozen tuna:
The voice of Luka is Yuu Asakawa, who also voices Tsugumi Komachi in Ever17.
In this game, a giant frozen tuna makes an appearance.

Ooma-san has such history.

You can grip him like a sword!
Getting hit with him has got to hurt.
Ooma-san might be the ultimate weapon. And you can eat him.
This figure fits the concept of figma perfectly: "beauty" and "action."
Even with a giant tuna in her hand, Luka retains her elegance.

There's enough tension in the joints to stay in a pose for a long time.
And despite that, they're not difficult to move - it's the ideal action figure.

The way her hair flows is breathtaking.

This is a bit of a detour, but do you know the origin of Vocaloid character names?
(There's going to be a bit of a Japanese lesson in here as well)

The concept of "Megurine Luka" is as follows:
The kanji for Megurine are meguru - to travel/go around - and ne (oto) - sound.
Lu comes from ru (nagare), flow, and ka comes from both ka (song) and ka (scent), things that flow through the air.

Looking at the pictures again with this in mind, I can only agree.
When I see her singing happily with her arm extended, I can almost hear her song in the air.
And from her hair, a wonderful scent... Mmm...

Hatsune (Hatsu+ne) means first sound and Miku comes from reading the kanji for mirai (future) differently.
Together, Hatsune Miku means "a new sound coming from the future." (Vocaloid!)

As for Kagamine Rin and Len...
Kagamine (Kagami+ne) means both "sound reflecting off a mirror" as well as "the reflection in the mirror, of the opposite gender."
Rin comes from the kanji for bells, which ring out and call to people.
Len comes from the kanji ren/len, which describes his existence: connected.
And if you'll notice the letters their names start with, R and L... Right and Left...
You can really feel the creators' passion in the names of their characters.

That's enough sidetracking. ^o^

With the announcement of the next Vocaloid Lily, it doesn't seem like there will be an end to this Vocaloid madness.
The flame in my heart only burns brighter!

Megurine Luka figma preorders open!
Miku and Rin/Len eagerly await company!

Ooma-san says: You won't find me anywhere else!

PS - The title of this post is a quote from Masaki Asai, the creator of the figma series concept.
He also adds that it would be ideal if it never broke, but if you've ever played with a figma you know how irresistibly fun they are.
