From the murderous heat earlier this month, it's suddenly cooled down in these recent days, here in Japan.
I hope all you good people reading our blog are all nice and healthy.
Here at Hobby Search, it just so happens that people near my desk are sick.
Hey everyone, Tomeko here, right in front of the path of death, how do you do?
Today, our Head of Dolls Department managed to obtain something interesting, so I would like to introduce that.
And its called......
Tokyo Doll
We've recently started dealing with their products,
the Tokyo Doll is a doll manufacturer that creates soft, seamless bodies for dolls, making the most of their silicon material.
By seamless in this case, it basically means the joints of the points of articulations are concealed, so all the joints are smooth,
whither it be the knee or the elbow etc. just like that of a real person.
This [Tokyo Doll] is merely the name of the manufacturer, and the product themselves are named One Sixth, One Third etc. according
to their size.
And the item we will be looking at today is this.
-
One Sixth - 25S (BodyColor / Skin Fresh)
When opening the box, you see these along with the body itself.
The maintenance set.
Within the orange/white container at the top right, is a mysterious white powder.
This is not foundation, flour, nor illegal naughty medicine.
It's actually a powder to smoothen the silicon body surface.
By using the included brush to rub this powder onto the surface, it magically makes it a whole lot easier to put clothing on......
yes, such mysterious powder.
With the material being what it is, if you try to dress the body without using the powder, the clothing catches onto the skin,
making it very difficult to dress.
Right, now for the main part, the body itself...
It looks like this.
The three white spots isn't caused by the powder,
it's simply a matter of Public order and morals.
Next is a photograph, close up.
Allow me to give a little explanation.
For each of the size/color of these items by Tokyo Dolls, they have the options of:
• Parting line Unprocessed – No body makeup
• Parting line Processed – No body makeup
• Parting line Processed – With body makeup
The above 3 options for you to choose from.
The item we are looking at today is the [Parting line Processed – With body makeup] item.
If you choose the unprocessed options, you will have to remove the parting line yourself, but there is explanation for the removal
method in the instruction manual, so if you are good with crafting, then it should be fine for you.
By the way, my comment regarding its texture as you touch it... its so...
Super SOFT!!
I really couldn't stop grinning as you feel it (→and I might get reported for this).
This is obvious as it's made with silicon, but the texture is seriously so new and original, that I couldn't help but make an image
like this.
......*cough*
Anyway, I feel guilty for keeping it naked for so long,
and it seems a little *cough* to keep putting white spots in the images, so let's dress her up.
Ta-Dah!
The silicon body attracts dust easily, so this is important.
The black, or dark colors especially stand out.
So from here, you slap some of the mysterious powder......
This mysterious process of powdering a naked doll and trying to dress it up, it makes you slightly unsure......
But it's all good once its on, right?
Oh and things could get messy when brushing the powder on, so make sure you obtain a safe space before you get onto dressing the
doll.
By the way, this clothing used, well the underwear is that of Azone's for the PureNeemo series at the same size.
The impression I got from dressing it was that, it seemed slightly tight.
Anyway, I'm not satisfied with just the underwear.
So I've gone off to acquire a change of clothing + a head of PureNeemo doll from the personal possessions of one of our staff to
dress!
EQUIP!!
W O W !!
Himeno is cute even as a normal doll, but seriously, what's with
this overwhelming cuteness!?
The clothing has been stolen from a certain Light Music Club member (again, from the staff's possession).
If fairies or Homunculi exist, they might look like this.
And to be honest, the photo here had been taken with the underwear removed.
This is because if you layer too much clothing, it ruins the great bodyline.
Right.
The looks and feel of this silicon body is just magnificent, but it also requires great efforts and delicate care, not just the
powdering.
Firstly, the frame is made of wire, so you can't make extravagant action poses.
Basically, the further the pose gets from the original state (from the position you receive it as), the more strain you will be
putting on the wire frame inside. And if you happen to break the wire, apparently the manufacturer won't accept repairs for it, so
you have to be very careful.
Therefore, it takes a little care even to put on clothing.
For example,
Trying to get both arms through their sleeves at the same time.
There may be a better way to dress it, but as you can't remove the arms and legs, there are restrictions that you wouldn't have a
problem with when using normal dolls that you can take the arms and legs off.
In saying that, however, even a blunderer like me managed to dress them in the end, so I'm sure you would have no problems, as long
as you treat it a little more carefully.
So in conclusion, there are negatives such as the need for special care with handling and limitations on the poses it can take, but
the positive being fully seamless + soft realistic beautiful body really outweighs the negative, this is such an interesting body
indeed.
The material and cost of it may be slightly out of the easily affordable range, so its not quite common yet, but who knows, in the
next 50 years or so, all the standard dolls might be equipped with these soft bodies.
And they might also have super high level A.I. loaded inside, and might even spea......
...right, enough of the daydream, that will be it for today!
Thanks for reading the Hobby Search Blog, see you next time~
By Tomeko, who is sad that the cat is getting more attached to (her) mother than herself......
