Miyazawa Model Exhibition Railway Model Report vol.3<br />–Real Line-
Hello, Kapinozuka here.
The "Miyazawa Model Exhibition" was held the other day (9th Nov), so I will continue with the report on Railway Model items that were exhibited.

★RealLine

The third report will be an introduction of the company that has been reproducing the Type D51 in N-Scale with great precision, the booth of "Real Line".

The Type D51 Steam Engine is a steam locomotive that had been produced the most in Japan, becoming one of the classics.

At present, the only one still operating on the main line is the car No.498. It is very popular when used as a temporary car for the JR East events etc. and this time, the No.498 car in its current appearance (2010) had been reproduced.

As usual, it has been crafted with details to the finest of parts.
Please pay attention to the great coloring too, not just the level of reproduction.
Plus, unlike other Type D51, this one has been equipped with parts for running on the rails of the present day. I say these are also worth paying attention to as well.

Please enjoy the D51-498 that runs on the present rail, along with the other old cars that remains in the Takasaki Vehicle Center or the series 12 passenger cars etc.

The little brother (or sister?) that is one after the No.498 car, the No.499 car will also be turned into a model.
This No.499 car is currently preserved in the Kairaku Park of Tsu city of Mie Prefecture.

The characteristic part of this is that the smoke deflector known as Type G-3 is equipped. The type of deflectors that has been made smaller, only having the top part, is usually called the "Witte type". but this G-3 had been attached at the Goto General Car Depot. If you thought you had seen this deflector before somewhere, you are pretty sharp. It’s almost exactly the same as the car No.498 that was introduced earlier. So the No.498 car this year had been decorated like that of No.499 Car.

Now, getting back to the No.499 car, the time setting of this car is that of its time in Fukuchiyama car depot. It had mainly been used in the places of West Japan, but was at Fukuchiyama during 1958~1972, so it had been there for almost 14 years. You could say that it had been reproduced at the peak of its time.

★Extra: The 31st Japan Model Railroad Show Report [Real Line]

I thought it was a little sad to let this article end with just two images, so let me show you a few of the Real Line layouts exhibited at the Japan Model Railways.

The layout itself was a townscape like this.

To be honest, this layout is had been displayed at the booth of Real Line every year at the Japan Model Railroad Show.
The D51 that is produced by Real Line generally blends into this scenery well.
This could be because the layout has reproduced the period of Japan, where many of the D51 were at their peak.

It may be a down somewhere, but it’s very nice, having no tall buildings, making the sky feel very open. A soothing layout that is filed with relaxing atmosphere.

★Additional Extra: The 31st Japan Model Railway Show Memorial Limited Edition Item

There were limited edition items sold at the Japan Model Railroad Show. They are called the Full-detail series, and is something that isn’t put on general circulation.

......however!
Out of the 3 types that were there, we were given special permission to deal 2 of them, here at Hobby Search!
So here they are.

[JMRA Limited Edition] East Japan Railway D51498 Takasaki Train Center (Shine Painting Model)

The No.498 car reproduced as its appearance in the recent years (2002~ early 2008), having a gloss paint like that of a preservation car.

•[JMRA Limited Edition] East Japan Railway D51498 Takasaki Train Center (Ban-etsu West Line Event Model, Red Number, Red Rod)
[JMRA Limited Edition] East Japan Railway D51498 Takasaki Train Center (Ban-etsu West Line Event Model, Red Number, Red Rod)

This is the appearance from the Ban’etsu West Line event in the year 2008.
The number plate, coloring of rod etc. are painted red, giving it a different impression.

There are only very little stock of these each, so we appreciate your understanding if they run out.
It sold out just before the blog was uploaded. Thank you for your orders.
(Woah so fast! It was only quietly registered on the site...)

Even a single steam engine can be expressed differently, just by the difference in their equipment and coloring etc.
There were 1115 cars of this Type51 Steam Locomotive produced, and each of these have different appearance each time.
I think that is one of the factors that attract so many fans.

Real Line, the company that has been releasing only the type51 models to the world.
I would believe they will continue pursuing the greatness of the D51.

So that concludes the report on Real Line.

By Kapinozuka (Wonder how many days it will take to visit each D51 preserved in Japan?)
