while the cost is debatable since I've seen none anime cold cast statues a fraction of the price. The major benefit of cold cast is longer shelf life, the material is almost the same as pottery hence you won't have to worry too much about heat and humidity that would cause warping on PVC.
Cold cast statues also tend to appear duller color wise because the material absorbs light more than PVC, so you need more light to properly view the figure.
