[The world's largest submarine aircraft carrier]
- The Japanese Navy's I-400 class submarine was built as a submarine aircraft carrier unlike any other in history, launching three special attack aircraft "Seiran" from a submarine capable of covert operations.
- With a total length of 122m, a total width of 12m, and an underwater displacement of 6,560 tons, it was comparable to a destroyer and was the largest in the world at the time.
- In addition, it has a long range that allows it to sail around the world without calling at any port, and it was never a dream to launch a surprise attack on the East Coast of the United States or the Panama Canal, a key Allied force.
- The first ship, I-400, was completed in December 1945, at the end of the Pacific War. Together with the second ship, I-401, the war ended while they were on their way to attack the American task force at Ulithi Atoll, and they never saw any actual combat. I never experienced it.
- However, its performance demonstrated the superior technological capabilities of the Japanese Navy to the world, and is said to have led to the later concept of strategic missile nuclear submarines.

[I-400 main details]
- Standard displacement: 3,530 tons, underwater displacement: 6,560 tons, overall length: 122 m, overall width: 12 m, maximum speed: 18.7 knots on surface, 6.5 knots underwater, armament: 8 53 cm torpedo tubes, 1 single 14 cm gun, 25 mm3 3 twin machine guns, 1 single 25mm machine gun, equipped with: 3 special attack aircraft "Seiran"

[Model details]
- 1/350 scale plastic model assembly kit.
- A powerful model of the world's largest airplane with a total length of 348.5 mm, including a large aircraft storage tube and an offset conning tower.
- The vertically split hull is precisely engraved on the entire surface using a slide mold.
- The storage tube, which has been realistically reproduced down to the inner wall, can be assembled with three Seiran units stored in it.
- Set of 2 Seiran aircraft ready for flight.
- You can also choose to display it on the catapult just before ejection or on a dolly.
- Photo-etched parts are available for the crane arm, Seiran's propeller, etc.

- Comes with a pedestal for display.

One of the best quality model from Tamiya. Very good fitting, and fun to built from start to finish. PE parts are excellent . I airbrush this model with Tamiya XF-75 IJN Grey (Kure Arsenal) and a mix of XF-7 flat red & XF-9 hull red for the lower part of the hull.
This model is highly recommeded for 1/350 ship collectors.
