Hokkaido Railway Company / Kiha 130 Type "Hidaka Pony"

Kiha 130 is a small-size diesel car once in service for Hidaka Railway on the northern island of Hokkaido. Totally taken out of service in 2002, we can no longer take this train but, no cause for concern, we can enjoy its run on a model railway! This one here is a model of the Kiha 130 "Pony", specially painted and decorated for a certain railway event, horses trotting all over its white body.

TOMIX releases the "Pony" on a limited basis, a two-car set comprising 2 Kihas, one in the painting scheme of the "Pony" and the other in an ordinary version.

Hokkaido Railway Company / ED79-0 Type Electric Locomotive

ED79-0 Series of the JR Tsugaru-Kaikyo Line has ever since its inception been running through the Seikan Tunnel that connetcts the Japanese island of Honshu and Hokkaido. After some revamping on the ED75-700 Type had been carried out, ED79-0 made its debut just in time for the opening of the tunnel. This series is quite familiar to railway aficionados for operating quite widely as a haulage train, through its entire career, not just for the rapid train "Kaikyo", but also for the overnight expresses "Nihonkai", "Hokutosei", "Cassiopeia" and "Twilight Express", and even for freight trains.

This model is going to be manufactured totally anew, with the JR logo pre-printed on the body.

Hokkaido Railway Company / ED79-100 Type Electric Locomotive

Well, this model is ED79-100 Type, set for release together with the ED79-0 Type shown above. The 100 Type operates in tandem with the 0 Type to haul freight trains. It thus never runs solo but plays a supporting role to the 0 Type. Nonetheless a very necessary model in replicating the Tsugaru-Kaikyo Line.

Japan Freight Railway Company / EF66 Type Electric Locomotive (JR Freight Car Renewal)

Initially developed and used by JNR for high speed freight service, EF66 Type was later put to use for sleeper services of the "Blue Train"as well. After undergoing some renewal work, this series is still actively running for JR Freight. The one in the middle of the photo is EF66 of the second production period, brightly painted like the EF66-100 Type, whereas the one on the right is of the third period, with a color combination reminiscent of JNR but painted in a color arrangement unlike that of JNR.

Air-conditioner for Locomotives 1

The white box right above the cockpit is the part that replicates the air-conditioner mounted on EF66. With this tiny box attached, it can be turned into an air-conditioned version of the locomotive.

An EF66 model actually with the air-conditioner was on display by way of illustraion. The second photo is taken from a little above.

West Japan Railway Company / DE15 Type Diesel Locomotive "Okuizumo Orochi" Color

"Okuizumo Orochi" is the name of a "Torokko-Ressha"of JR Kisugi Line in Shimane prefecture, a kind of a light railway train mainly targeted at carrying sightseers visitng the region. What you can see here is the diesel locomotive of "Okuizumo Orochi", painted beautifully in blue and white. This model is to be sold exclusively at JAPAN RAILWAY WEST TRADING CO. This is why you cannot find it on our site. Sorry!

JAM-limited Version Container Wagon

This container wagon, with the JAM logo, was sold only at the International Modelrailroad Convention held at Tokyo Big Sight in August. "JAM", by the way, is an acronym for "Japan Association of Modelrailroaders".

JNR / Chi1 Type Freight Car

Freight cars to carry lumber, rails and telephone poles are called "flatcars", of which Chi1 Type is one. Chi 1 is relatively short as a flatcar on account of its two-axle structure.

TOMIX has done a renewal on this freight car item, making it compatible with the mini curved tracks. Also, it comes either with lumber, as in the first photo, or with drainpipes, as in the second. Thanks to this renewal, we can reproduce flatcars as they used to operate in the old days when they in fact transported various sorts of goods besides just lumber.

JNR / Komu 1 Type Freight Car

Komu 1 Type, being a two-axle freight car, was indeed a rarity. Its use was restricted to the Hokkaido area, and so one could seldom spot this one on other islands of the archipelago.

As you can see on the left, Komu 1 Type comes in two versions, one with an "ordinary" green container, and the other loaded with a white cold storage container. This one has also been renewed to be compatible with the mini curved tracks of TOMIX. The tiny Komu with the mini tracks should be an ideal combination for creating a small-scale diorama.

West Japan Railway Company / N700-3000 Series(N Set) Tokaido-Sanyo Shinkansen

Of the N700 Series now in service for Tokaido-Sanyo Shinkansen, the ones in N-Sets that belong to the West Japan Railway Company fall into the "N700-3000 Series" category. TOMIX releases 4 kinds of sets of this series, namely, the basic set made up of 3 cars, an add-on set A comprising 5 cars, an add-on set B with 3 cars and an add-on set C with 5 cars.

East Japan Railway Company / 400 Series Yamagata Shinkansen "Tshubasa"

The 400 Series, which operates primarily as "Tsubasa", came into being together with Yamagata Shinkansen service itself. The sad thing is, this series is scheduled for retirement in 2009, keeping us train fans in suspense as to what is to happen with its operation until then, and afterwards. New models of this series with slight modifications on the older ones are going to be released from TOMIX. Be sure to compare the new-paint version, i.e. the one in front on the photo, and the older one in the back! Each comes as a 7-car set.

West Japan Railway Company / 583 Series "Kitaguni"

Here is the 583 Series after it was renovated and repainted for "Kitaguni" overnight express service. Check out the intricate coloration! A 6-car basic set and a 4-car add-on set are on the production schedule for October releases.

West Japan Railway Company / 583 Series "Shpool & Resort"

Our staff found yet another one of the 583 Series at the show, that is, the prototype of "Shpool & Resort", coming out in October as a 6-car set. This set includes Kuhane 581 Type as the lead vehicle and also Saro 581-100 Type with a "mini-saloon", which makes it different from the "Kitaguni" set above.

JNR / DD51-1000 Type Diesel Locomotive for warm regions

This is a DD51 for relatively warm areas in the south of Honshu. If you want to replicate freight trains, local trains with older passenger cars or the overnight express "Izumo", DD51-1000 is the loco you are looking for!

West Japan Railway Company / 24 Series Overnight Express "Ginga"

This set here commemorates the end of the overnight express service "Ginga", whose career came to a close with the train timetable revision in March, 2008. The hue of the body, the color of the stripes, train numbers and the interior decorating all recreated in amazing details, the very last set of Ginga leaving Osaka for Tokyo is brought back to life!

West Japan Railway Company / 321 Series Secondary Car

The 321 Series, the latest, most-advanced commuter train of West Japan Railway Company, is released in a 3-car basic set and a 4-car add-on set.

Japan Freight Railway Company / 20C Type Container

20C Type is a tallish container whose operation in the main is to transport car parts. The size of this container makes it impossible to be loaded on Koki 50000 Types, as is warned on its body. Printings on the container are very small and yet very precisely detailed.

Double Track Curve Girder Bridge (gray)

This is a girder bridge for the curved double tracks C317-15 and C280-15. One would wonder how neat D.C. feeders over the elevated railroad would look, or how about attaching curve points to the tracks to build a crossover. This one definitely stimulates your imagination! Shown on the photo is merely one example of installation.

Double Track Girder Viaduct II Set

Girder viaducts are those you see at crossover points where railroad runs over a highway or a river. If you want a regular girder viaduct, you just need straight tracks S140. Another way to enjoy this item would be to combine 2 pieces of it together with PR(L)541-15 Electric Points to build a single crossover. Tracks with sensors placed on an elevate railroad might also be interesting. This item comes in two colors, green and blue, both of them there on the photo.

N-PR541-15 Electric/Manual Operation Points

Probably the most basic points of TOMIX, both electric and manual operation, are the PR(L)541-15s. A total renewal in the specification, into a so-called "completely selective type", makes reverse drive and complicated point arrangements possible with relatively simple wiring.

N-PR280-30/N-PL2 Electric Points

On display here are PR(L)280-30s, also renewed and completely selective.

N-CPR317/280-45, N-CPL317/280-45 Electric Curve Points

Electric Curve Points, again, completely selective.

TCS Power Unit N-1001-CL

A new and improved version of N-1000-CL was found on display. An AC adapter is going to be included in the set.

[HO-gauge]JNR/JR / EF81 Type Electric Locomotives

It would be safe to say that the most popular AC-DC dual system electric locomotive is EF81 Type, extensively deployed for everything from "Blue Train" to freight trains. A total of 4 EF81 Types in HO scale, all in rosy color, are released from TOMIX. The leftmost car on the photo is a limited-version renewal car of the JR Freight.

[HO-gauge]Japan Freight Railway Company / Koki 106 Type Container Wagon

What would freight transport service of Japan be without Koki 106? We found at the show a gray one without containers. A blue one with containers is also just around the corner.

[HO-gauge]Japan Freight Railway Company / 19G Type Container

JR Freight has more of 19G Types than it does any other types of containers. Probably that is why we tend to see this one being hauled along on a railroad more often than we do any other containers. Written on both sides of the body is the message "Environment-Friendly Rail Container Service". A 3-piece set is scheduled for release from TOMIX.

[HO-gauge]Japan Freight Railway Company / 30A Type Container

30A Type is a 20ft container initially developed for paper transport. There are two color types to this container, since a switch-over in the painting scheme was pulled off in the middle of the production process, resulting in bluish ones from the first production period and reddish ones from a latter production. Both are going to come out from TOMIX.
