- The final version of the Mazda RX - 7 (FD 3 S) type with rotary engine is this Spirit R. Mass production ended in 2002, a total of 1,500 units of Type A with Type 2, Type B with 4 passengers, Type C with automatic specifications were produced. It is one that must be indispensable as the final type of a sports car equipped with a rotary engine that succeeded in mass production only in the world. [About the model]
- The model is the most sporty type A in the Spirit R series. For prototype production, I scanned a real vehicle digitally and deformed slightly so as not to impair the sense of scale in the characteristic part. Body uses polyurethane resin. As casting of thin parts is difficult due to the nature of the material, it was a very difficult one to reproduce the thinness of the A-pillar without damaging the atmosphere of the actual car. The chassis produces a stable weight feeling by using white metal at the low center of gravity position. Dedicated drilled rotor brakes discs made with metallic etching parts with emphasis on texture. The side turn signal is reproduced stereoscopically by potting epoxy resin to the decal. A unique wheel color called the official name [Diamond Black] has been reproduced so as not to damage the atmosphere on 43 scales by applying smoke clear to Silver with high brightness. We adopted a very thin film for the front / side window and emphasized the transparency. The rear window adopted plastic parts to reproduce the private glasses adopted by the 3-dimensional shape and actual cars by painting. The painting and assembly of the model is 100% handmade.
