-The BT-7 began production in 1935 as an improved version of the BT-5.
-Improvements from the BT-5 include a change in body structure from riveting to welding, a change in body shape, increased cruising power, and enhanced armor.
-From the experience of the Spanish Civil War, from 1937 it is equipped with a new turret with a turret armor with a slope.
-At that time, many Soviet light tanks were destroyed by ignition from gasoline tanks, so in 1936 the same lightweight V12 diesel engine used on the later T-34 was replaced by the BT-7. Testing of the prototype vehicle to be mounted began, and in 1939 it was mass-produced as the BT-7M.
