――The ED76 type is an electric locomotive that appeared in 1965 based on the ED75 type for the Tohoku region as a reference for passenger and freight trains in Kyushu.
――Unlike the ED75 type, it is equipped with SG, so the body length is longer and an intermediate carriage is provided to reduce the axle load.
――In addition to the 0th generation, the 1000th generation, which is quoted from high-speed trains such as 20 series passenger cars and 10000 series freight cars, and the 500th generation, which has a cold and snow resistant structure for Hokkaido, appeared and played an active role, but the passenger car train was abolished. Retirement has progressed due to the reduction of freight trains and replacement with EF81 type that has moved in from other areas, and now some of the 0s and 1000s are used for freight train towing in Kyushu.
