-The actual car follows the structure and equipment of the previous model 3100 NSE, and while undergoing normal evolution, the image has been renewed from the rounded design of the 3100 to a straight design that is also a trend in the 1980s.
- Won the 1981 Railway Friends Blue Ribbon Award. In 1982, it was lent to the Japanese National Railways, and test runs were carried out at a maximum speed of 130km/h between Ofuna and Atami on the Tokaido Main Line.
