[Vehicle commentary]
- The GR Yaris was created based on the idea of [I want to bring back Toyota's sports car], a project that President Akio Toyoda is committed to.
- It is said that it is neither the 86, which was born in collaboration with Subaru, nor the Supra, which was born in collaboration with BMW.
- In development, it is a major premise to acquire WRC homologation, and rather than modifying the production model like the old Toyota WRC competition vehicle, in the extreme, the production model can be said to be a detuned version of the WRC participation vehicle. Although it calls itself Yaris, it is equipped with a platform and a special engine that are different from the standard model.
- There are three lines of commercially available models: the RZ series equipped with a 272-horsepower 1.6-liter 3-cylinder turbo and 4WD mechanism, the RC, which is a competition model, and the RS, which is an FF with a 1.5-liter 3-cylinder naturally aspirated engine.
- The grade called RZ modeled this time is positioned as a standard vehicle for 4WD vehicles.

- In Make Up, following the GR Supra, I was blessed with the opportunity to produce the GR Yaris as an official model car for GAZOO Racing.
- What is required for official model cars is not only to accurately miniaturize the dimensions of the actual car, but also how to convey the ``atmosphere of the actual car'' within different scales of 1/18 and 1/43. We positioned this as the most important issue and proceeded with development.
- The basic prototype design is based on the 3D data of the actual vehicle provided by Toyota, but it is only an outline and guidelines, and in the end it is the sensibility of the prototype designer. There are many parts to say, and the press line and surface expression of the body need to be optimized according to the scale.
- And, for example, the shape of the light reflectors and the expression of the texture of each part are carefully observed on the actual car, and we are devising ways to reproduce the shape and texture.
-In addition to reproducing the interior and exterior of the 1/18 Yaris, we also pursued the appearance of the lower arm of the suspension that can be seen when looking at the model from a slightly downward angle. It adopts a parts configuration that looks like the lower arm extends to the wheel side and supports the wheel.
