- From around 1906, the Berlin-based company Erdmann & Rossi specialized in the production of automobile bodies.
- Even before World War I, the German aristocracy was one of its customers, and even in the 1920s the factory relied on a wealthy customer base, producing chassis from the luxury brands Rolls-Royce, Horch or Bentley. It provided a neat body.
- Erdmann & Rossi attracted attention at the IAMA held in Berlin in February 1933 with a highly aerodynamically shaped car based on the Mercedes-Benz 170.
- This car, painted in old gold, certainly caused a heated debate.
- Because on the first day of the trade show, Mercedes-Benz issued an order saying that the star emblem should not be placed on cars.
- The exterior of the 170 Mercedes was characterized by extreme curves and a teardrop shape, which no longer suggested that it was a standard model.
- The front wheels were still exposed due to the steering angle, but the rear wheels were completely covered.
- Apparently, Erdmann & Rossi's Mercedes-Benz was several years ahead of its time.
- Perhaps this was also fate.
- It found no supporters and quickly faded into oblivion.
