- Takamatsu Kotohira Electric Railway, commonly known as Kotoden, is a company that was established during the war by merging three railways in Kagawa Prefecture, Shikoku.
- The Tosan Electric Tramway (later the Shikoku Hydroelectric Railway Department) opened in 1911 (Meiji 44), the Takamatsu Electric Tramway opened in 1912 (Meiji 45), and the Kotohira Electric Railway opened in 1926 (Taisho 15). It was merged in 1945 and developed as one of the pilgrimage railways to Kotohira Shrine in Kagawa Prefecture, known as Konpira-san, and is now an active railway for commuting to work or school within Takamatsu City.
- Before the war, new and innovative rolling stock was introduced, but after the war, when it was integrated into the Kotoden, there was a shortage of rolling stock, so cars from private railways from around the country were actively introduced, making it unique in Japan. It attracted so much attention among hobbyists that it was even referred to as a ``train museum'' due to the large number of types.
