- The DC-8 is a large jet airliner that represents the first generation of jet aircraft, along with the 707 and CV880, and was also the world's first airliner to fly at supersonic speed.
- This injection plastic kit reproduces the -53 type with new mold parts such as the main wing, engine pylon, and JT-3D engine nacelle.
- Also includes a painted mask seal and one type of decal.
- When completed, the total length will be approximately 319mm and the total width will be approximately 302mm.

[About the actual machine]
- The Douglas DC-8 is a large jet airliner developed by the American Douglas Aircraft Company.
- Along with the Boeing 707 and Convair 880, it is one of the most representative first-generation jet airliners, and was also the first passenger aircraft in the world to fly at supersonic speeds.
- Officially announced development and began accepting orders in June 1955. Shortly thereafter, Pan American, one of the world's largest airlines at the time and a long-time user of Douglas aircraft, placed an order for 25 aircraft.
- After that, by 1958, orders for 133 aircraft were received from airlines around the world.
- The company received orders not only from American airlines such as Pan American World Airways, Northwest Airlines, United Airlines, Delta Airlines, and Eastern Airlines, but also from non-U.S. airlines such as Japan Airlines, KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, Alitalia, Thai Airways International, Varig, and Swissair, contributing to the transition to jet aircraft on long-distance routes in countries around the world.
