- The Sd.Kfz.171 Panther V tank is said to be the most advanced German tank of World War II.
- It was equipped with a powerful 75mm gun and a vehicle body with sloped armor design that was highly effective at deflecting bullets, said to have been influenced by the Soviet T-34 that it faced during the German-Soviet War.
- It first saw combat in the Battle of Kursk in July 1943.
- The Panther tank underwent improvements as production continued, and the type produced following the first mass-produced D type was the Ausf. A.
- In addition to improving the reliability of the transmission, the turret was equipped with a new cupola equipped with a periscope.
- Over 2000 were produced between 1943 and 1944.
