Product Description
- The Savanna was released in Japan in 1971 as a rotary engine (RE)-only vehicle.
- Unlike a normal reciprocating engine, which generates power through the up and down movement of pistons, an RE generates its power through the rotational movement of an irregularly shaped piston called a rice ball-shaped rotor, and the driving feel is often described as being 'like that of a motor.'
- Currently, there are no RE-equipped vehicles on the market, but since Mazda is the only company that has fully commercialized and put the engine into practical use, many car enthusiasts consider it part of Mazda's identity.
- Hot Wheels has taken the race-spec RX-3 as its motif, but arranged it in a tall, tall style inspired by the deformed Japanese plastic models that were popular in the 1980s.
