[Overview of Kiha 22 Series]
- The Kiha 22 type is part of the JNR Kiha 20 series, a diesel car developed in 1957 for use in extremely cold climates.
- Mainly used in Hokkaido and northern Tohoku, it is characterized by its cold and snow resistant construction.
- The windows are small and double-glazed, and the boarding and alighting doors are equipped with decks, making it especially suited for use in extremely cold regions.
- There are roughly three types of appearance for the Kiha 22, but Model Icon will be modeling the final production type, No. 246 to No. 343, which was not produced by traditional manufacturers, in 1/80 scale, featuring nine ventilators and other modernized parts.
- More than 80% of the types inherited by JR were of this type.
