- The 7.5cm PaK40 was an anti-tank gun used by Germany in World War II.
- Development of this gun began in 1939 as an expanded version of the 5cm PaK38, and the prototype was completed in 1941. Mass production began in 1942, and it became the German army's main anti-tank gun in the second half of the war.
- The 7.5cm PaK40 was initially deployed to counter Soviet tanks on the Eastern Front, but was also used on the North African, Italian and Western Fronts, where it proved effective against American and British tanks.
- In the latter stages of the war, larger calibers such as the PaK43, PaK43/41, and PaK44 were developed, but the 7.5cm PaK40 was the main weapon of the Panzerjaegers until the end of the war, and was also installed on the Marder I/II/III self-propelled anti-tank guns that used tank chassis.
- Between 1941 and 1945, approximately 23,500 towed guns and 6,000 vehicle-mounted guns were produced. They were also exported to Finland, Romania, Hungary, Bulgaria, and other countries.
