Local private railways have long been plagued by a decline in usage due to motorization, and in recent years have also been affected by the declining birthrate and aging population, continuing to struggle.
Even under these circumstances, in order to promote use, active promotional activities are being carried out that take advantage of the line's unique features, such as updating stations and carriages, reviewing operation formats, and even operating tourist trains in cooperation with local governments along the line to strengthen tourism.
In this special issue, we will be focusing on local private railways across the country that have such distinctive features, and introducing the initiatives of each company and their unique vehicles and trains along with model products.

- Special feature [Oigawa Railway E31 electric locomotive painted in JNR limited express colors!]
As the third installment of our real train decoration project, for which we have overseen the design, we have painted an Oigawa Railway E31 electric locomotive in the EF65-style JNR express train colors.
This time we will be bringing you exclusive breaking news and a look at the decoration work.
In addition, as part of a project linked to the special feature, we will also be introducing various initiatives being undertaken by the Oigawa Railway.

- Special Feature [Kiha 40 in Hokkaido]
Entry number 16 introduces various variations of Hokkaido's Kiha 40, which disappeared with the timetable change on March 14th.
