Product Description
Modelsbit is pleased to present the completely new 1/72 Mirage G8.01 prototype two-seater variable-wing interceptor.
The Mirage G8 is a 1960s interceptor aircraft designed and manufactured by the French company Dassault.
The engine for this aircraft was planned to be two M53s for the mass-produced model, but the prototype was built with an Atar 9K50.
The first prototype (G8.01) made its first flight in May 1971, and in 1973 the second prototype (G8.02) recorded a speed of Mach 2.34, which was the fastest in Europe at the time.
However, the plan was cancelled due to rising costs caused by the complexity of the variable wing mechanism and the worsening economic situation caused by the first oil crisis.
The kit comes with etched parts, paint mask stickers, two types of canopy (open/closed), and one French Air Force Cartograf decal.
The main wings can be set to either fully open or stowed.
When completed, the overall length will be approximately 262mm and the overall width (with the wings fully extended) will be approximately 213mm.
