Product Description
On Yaji-san and Kita-san's unusual journey, their companion is the unexpected Sazae-san!?
The final episode of the phantom serialization is compiled into one book for the first time!
A parody manga of "Tokaido Chugen Hizakurige" by Hasegawa Machiko, the author of "Sazae-san".
This is the first book to compile all the stories serialized in Asahi Weekly in the 1940s into one volume, right up to the final chapter.
"Shin Yajikita Dochuuki" is Machiko's first attempt at a period piece, as she loves Kabuki and period dramas. It depicts the unusual journey of the beloved mismatched duo Yajisan and Kitasan from Edo's Nihonbashi to Ise. Sazae-san even appears on the journey.
It was hugely popular when it was serialized in the Asahi Weekly, and was even made into a movie, Shin Yajikita Dochu (1952), in which Achako Hanabishi and Entatsu Yokoyama played Yajirobei and Kitahachi.
It has been published in book form several times, but it ends abruptly after passing Kuwana-juku (Mie Prefecture), and the last seven chapters were not included. Four of the seven chapters were later redrawn and included in another book (Apron Obaa-san Volume 5), but the remaining three chapters have never been included anywhere. This time, the three stories not yet published in book form, including the final chapter, will be included for the first time.
