[About Tobu Railway C11 No. 123]
Tobu Railway C11 No. 123 was originally ordered from Kohaku Railway in 1947 as C111. In 1957, it was transferred to Yubetsu Colliery Railway.
It was transferred to the Kushiro Development Wharf in 1970, scrapped in 1975 and preserved in static form by an individual in Hokkaido.
In 2018, it was transferred to Tobu Railway and work began to restore it to working order. It is the third steam locomotive [C11 123] for Tobu Railway, celebrating its 123rd anniversary.
It began operation in July 2022. This is the only domestically produced steam locomotive in Japan that has been ordered by a private railway and is preserved in working order.
