Halberd Models, a Ukrainian manufacturer of resin aircraft kits and modification parts, is pleased to announce their new 1/24 scale XF-85 Goblin full resin kit.
The kit includes resin parts, 3D printed parts, etched parts, and one type of decal.
A dedicated transport cart is also included.
When completed, the overall width will be approximately 267mm and the overall length will be approximately 188mm.

The XF-85 Goblin is a prototype fighter jet developed as a parasite fighter (parent-child fighter) to be stored in the bomb bay of a B-36 and transported to the combat airspace to escort the B-36 ultra-long-range bomber invading Soviet territory during the Cold War.
Development of this aircraft began in September 1945, a full-scale mockup was completed in June 1946, and two prototypes were ordered in February 1947 as the XP-85.
The 4.52m long, barrel-shaped fuselage had a jet engine intake at the nose and a nozzle at the end of the fuselage, and the main wings were swept back at a 34-degree angle.
Based on the results of flight tests, directional stabilizers were added to the wingtips.
The first aircraft, completed in October 1947, was primarily used for wind tunnel testing, but the second aircraft was used for flight testing from July 1948 onwards, using the EB-29B Superfortress as its base aircraft.
The second aircraft successfully completed its first free flight in August of the same year, but failed to return to its mother aircraft. It then attempted a second free flight in October, successfully returning to its mother aircraft.
The results of these flight tests indicated that it was not easy to return the aircraft to its carrier aircraft, and due to the introduction of aerial refueling and the increased range of escort fighters, development of the aircraft was discontinued in 1949.
