[About the actual car]
The 80 series electric train, synonymous with Shonan Electric Railway, has been steadily increasing in number since its introduction in 1950, and in 1957, the 80 series began to be used on semi-express trains between Tokyo and Nagoya and between Nagoya and Osaka on the Tokaido Main Line.
Therefore, in order to withstand long-distance operation and improve service, all-metal cars were manufactured as the 300 series.
The 80 series 300 series, which had a sleek body with the sill headers removed from the car body, continued to be used on the Iida Line, Chuo-Nishi Line, Sanyo Main Line, etc. even after it was removed from service on the Tokaido Line.
