Product Description
The 42nd volume of the series is a combined reprint of two works from the RM Library: Volume 32 [Kita-Ena Railway] (published in March 2002) and Volume 72 [Tono Railway] (published in August 2005), both written by Takeshi Shimizu.
The first section, Kita-Ena Railway, is a small private railway line located in the eastern part of Gifu Prefecture, near the border with Nagano Prefecture, connecting Nakatsu Town and Shimotsukichi, a distance of approximately 22 km.
Its main purpose was to transport timber, but it also operated passenger services, but was abolished in 1978 due to changes in the industrial structure and depopulation.
The latter, Tono Railway, was located in the same Gifu prefecture and consisted of two lines: the Dachi Line and the Kasahara Line.
It was originally formed by a merger of two different companies, with the aim of shipping Mino ware pottery.
It was abolished in the early 1970s.
Both railways continue to operate as corporations as bus companies.
