Product Description
- Masterpiece 16 Series 1/80 16.5mm Gauge Metal Kit
[About the prototype]
These trains were introduced when the line opened in 1981 and were the first subway trains in Japan to be designed for one-man operation.
It was also used for through service to the then-Japanese National Railways Chikuhi Line and received the Laurel Prize in 1982.
A total of 18 train sets, comprising 108 cars, were manufactured, each consisting of six cars.
Refurbishment work was carried out from 1997 to 2004, and the modified train sets were reclassified as the 1000N series, with changes made to their appearance and functionality.
The front of the train had its through-door glass replaced with the original vertical glass, and the flat glass at both ends was changed to curved glass, but it was later modified back to flat glass.
In this project, we plan to commercialize a prototype based on the character's appearance in its later years, which closely resembles its original form.
Although the trains were gradually retired starting in 2024, we will recreate their nostalgic appearance in this model.
