The body design is by Giorgetto Giugiaro.
It adopted a front-engine, front-wheel-drive (FF) system, with a horizontally opposed four-cylinder engine mounted at the front and driving the front wheels.
The suspension features MacPherson struts at the front and a beam axle with a Watts linkage mechanism at the rear.
