Before the widespread use of minivans like those we see today, ambulances were typically wagon-type vehicles based on passenger cars.
In particular, the Toyota ambulance retained the image of the Crown passenger car while significantly increasing its body size to secure the space necessary for emergency medical services, and was equipped with a 6-cylinder 3900cc engine designed for large vehicles, thus enhancing its power performance.
The Toyota ambulance, with its bonnet-type design (sometimes called the Metropolitan type depending on the era) that retained the image of the Crown, was produced in three generations by around 1971, and all of them were appealing for their sleek style that made the most of their large body size.
The FS55V model, in particular, was the final version and was even produced as a Tomica product in the past, becoming a long-selling item for about 20 years, making it a well-known model.
As part of last year's 55th anniversary celebration of Tomica, a modified version of the Toyota ambulance FS55V, which was also produced as a TLV product, is now available.
This time, we will be recreating the specifications of the fire engine that was stationed at the Honda Fire Station in Katsushika Ward, which is under the jurisdiction of the Tokyo Fire Department.
This will be enjoyable for a wide range of fans, including those who have fond memories of playing with Tomica cars in the past, those who love emergency vehicles, and those who appreciate the Showa era.
