In the early 2000s, the U.S. Marine Corps, having realized the M16's lack of range and power in vast desert battles, revived the powerful, older M14 rifle that had been lying dormant in a warehouse.
However, it's not just a matter of "pulling it out."
The PWS (Precision Weapons Section), which possesses factory-level technical capabilities within the unit, carried out a thorough modification to transform it into a modern DMR (Designated Marksman Rifle).
The old-fashioned wooden stock has been replaced with a smooth fiberglass one that fits the shooter better.
It incorporates a high-precision stainless steel match-grade barrel, and the muzzle has been redesigned with a muzzle brake that is compatible with suppressor attachment.
With the ability to accurately deliver the power of its 7.62mm rounds, sometimes described as having a "hammer-like" impact, over long distances, this rifle proved its worth as a guardian covering the range beyond that of the main battle rifle, working alongside marksmen and scout snipers.
This kit models the M14DMR in 1/12 scale.
The form of each part, which evolved from the M14, has been meticulously reproduced.
The presence or absence of a suppressor and the opening/closing of the bipod are selectable options.
