The Manta is a small, multi purpose unmanned underwater vehicle (UUV) fielded by EAE, primarily employed for reconnaissance, surveillance, and individual propulsion support in shallow water and nearshore environments. The vehicle features a flattened, wing like configuration, with an overall length of approximately 120 cm and a width of roughly 130 cm, exhibiting a silhouette closely resembling that of a manta ray (family Mobulidae). This design reduces hydrodynamic drag when submerged and minimizes the unit’s visual and acoustic signature, rendering it less conspicuous during operations. The Manta is equipped with internal thrusters and steering vanes, attaining a maximum submerged speed of approximately 12 knots. Optical and sonar sensors are integrated into the forward section and both wings, enabling underwater target identification, terrain mapping, and signal relay functions. Each Manta unit is linked to the Sothoth system, permitting either remote control or autonomous navigation along pre programmed routes.
