Product Description
-- The flagship express diesel railcar of the East German State Railway
[Vehicle Introduction]
The VT 18.16 is a high-speed diesel multiple unit (DMU) that debuted in 1963 for international trains operated by the East German State Railways (DR).
In 1970, it was renamed [BR 175] and its livery was changed to an ivory color with a red stripe, and it continued to operate in that livery.
Boasting a top speed of 160 km/h, its beautifully streamlined body and comfortable interior facilities made it a representative premium train of East Germany. It was used on international trains connecting Berlin to Prague, Vienna, Copenhagen, Malmö, and other destinations, including the Vindobona.
