The Mitsubishi Fuso Aero Bus (MS725 series), released in 1982, boasted an aerodynamic performance with a drag coefficient of 0.592. It incorporated numerous new features, including a rivetless aerodynamic form and the first independent front suspension in a large bus in Japan, making it a huge hit and a game-changer for tour buses. A minor facelift in 1988 resulted in the later model, and it continued production until 1992. Even 40 years after its debut, it remains a beloved classic in tour bus history, attracting many fans.
The popular TLV-NEO Aero Bus is now available in a Hankyu Bus specification.
Hankyu Bus is a major bus operator headquartered in Osaka Prefecture. Although its express bus operations have been transferred to its subsidiary, Hankyu Kanko Bus, the eye-catching purple and black striped color scheme remains. At the time, the company name "[HANKYU]" was not printed but was a three-dimensional decoration, giving it an even more luxurious appearance.
Vehicle number 88-2161 was introduced in 1988 on the Kinmai Line, which connects Shin-Osaka Terminal to Miyazu and Higashi-Maizuru. It featured a spacious 9-row seating arrangement and luxurious amenities including a toilet, car phone, and various other facilities.
