The Kojaku Railway is a non-electrified local private railway that connects Hamaotsu to Omi-Imazu along the west bank of Lake Biwa in Shiga Prefecture. About 6km between Miiderashita and Eiyama opened in March 1921 (Taisho 10) 100 years ago, and the entire line was opened over the next 10 years, but Omi and Wakasa (Fukui), which was the origin of the railway name, The plan to connect the prefecture's Reinan area) was not realized. At the beginning of the business, it was towed by steam locomotives, but later it actively introduced diesel trains, and due to the large number of both, it was known to fans as a [western diesel railcar powerhouse] along with the Kanto Railway in the east.

After that, it was decided to construct the Kosei Line (74.1km between Yamashina and Omi-Shiotsu), which short-circuits the Kansai area and the Hokuriku area. The entire railway line was abolished only in October (Showa 44) (currently it continues as a bus company called [Kojak Bus]). In the first volume of this book, we will deliver the origins of line construction, explanations of each station, and patterns along the line including facilities along the line.
