[Actual vehicle introduction]
- Kiha 11 is a general-purpose diesel train introduced by JR Tokai in 1988 for non-electrified routes.
- The vehicle is 18 meters long with two doors on each side, designed for one-man operation.
- A 330PS engine is used for power, and combined with the lightweight body, a significant performance improvement compared to conventional vehicles has been achieved.
- The interior of the car uses semi-cross seats and has a color scheme based on the 211 series 5000 series manufactured at the same time.
- There are four series classifications: warm region model 0 series, cold region model series 100 series, Tokai Kotsu Business owned series 200 series, and stainless steel body with toilets 300 series.
- The Meimatsu Line, which connects Matsusaka and Ise-Okutsu, was cut off between Ieki and Ise-Okutsu due to the typhoon disaster in 2009, but was restored in March 2016 thanks to the efforts of local governments.
- Along with this, four Kiha 11-300 cars were transferred to the Nagoya Vehicle District and continue to be active as Meimatsu Line exclusive cars as of 2024.
- Basically, it is operated as a single train, but you can also see two-car formations mainly during the morning rush hour.

- Both the power vehicle (A1520) and trailer vehicle (A1521) are shipped with an Arnold coupler on one side and a dummy coupler on the other. It is also possible to use Arnold couplers on both sides with the enclosed parts.
