- The 15cm heavy infantry gun sIG33 was the German army's main infantry gun throughout World War II.
- Development began in 1927, before the start of World War II, and it was officially adopted in 1933.
- During World War II, it was used as the primary infantry gun on all fronts, and was also mounted on tank chassis to turn it into a self-propelled gun.
- Production was centered around Rheinmetall, and approximately 4,600 were produced by the end of the war.
