[Actual vehicle guide]
The first group of EF65-1000 series trains were produced to replace the 500 series trains used on the Tohoku Main Line.
A distinctive feature of the car was that it did not originally have a awning, which was added later only above the front window, but not above the headlights, giving it a different appearance from the group of cars from No. 1018 onwards.
The 1001 was the last of the group to retain its JNR livery and was in service until 2008, and is currently kept at Tokyo Freight Terminal Station.
