The Nishi-Nippon Railroad 600 series is a vehicle manufactured for the Omuta Line (now the Tenjin-Omuta Line) from 1962 onwards.
In 1990, the train entered service on the Miyajidake Line (now part of the Kaizuka Line), during which time it was modified to include narrow-gauge bogies and a change of body color to yellow with red stripes.
The Nishitetsu Kaizuka Line will celebrate its 100th anniversary in May 2024, and cars 606 and 656 have been selected for the wrapped train to commemorate this occasion.
The wrapping design was created by Pantobisco, who also created the official Nishitetsu Railway characters, Gatanko and Gotonko. The names of all 10 stations on the Nishitetsu Kaizuka Line are listed under the side windows, and Gatanko and Gotonko are dynamically depicted across the entire surface, creating an impactful design.
