--Kintetsu's first VVVF inverter-controlled car, the 1420 series, has arrived!

- Kintetsu Railway is known as Japan's largest private railway company, with a vast network of lines stretching from the Kansai region to the Chukyo region.
- The 1420 series is a commuter train operated by Kintetsu Railway, and was manufactured in 1984 as the first generation 1250 series.
- The model was then changed to the 1251 series in 1986, and finally changed again to the 1420 series in 1990, which is the model we have today.
- This was also the first VVVF inverter-controlled car for Kintetsu Railway, and the first in the world to be equipped with a VVVF inverter control device using a 4500V2000A voltage-resistant GTO thyristor for 1500V railway lines.
- This GTO thyristor element became the standard for subsequent railway inverter control devices, and a plate bearing a logo mark indicating that the car was a VVVF inverter-controlled car was attached to the side of the car body.
- This type of train is mainly used on the Osaka Line as an express train, including rapid express trains, when coupled with other trains, but it is also sometimes used alone as a local train.

- By using a separately sold power unit and N gauge running parts, it can be run as an N gauge model train.
- We recommend the TM-14R (20m class A2) power unit, TT-04R running parts set, and PT4811N <0258> pantograph.
