[About the actual car]
- The StuG III Ausf. A was the first mass-produced type of Stug III developed by the German army during World War II.
- Development of the Sturmgeschütz III began in 1936 as a direct support vehicle for infantry.
- In order to meet requirements such as being equipped with a 7.5 cm gun and having a vehicle height that did not exceed a person's height, a fixed fighting compartment was added to the body of a Panzer III tank, and the Sturmgeschütz III was born, equipped with a short-barreled 7.5 cm gun.
- The first production model was the A-type, 30 of which were produced between January and May 1940.
- Based on the body of the Panzer III F type tank, the armor on the front and other parts has been reinforced.
- It was fitted with a sealed fixed fighting compartment and a short-barreled 24-caliber 7.5 cm assault gun as its main gun.
