Introducing a new product from Ukraine's Drawings that is exclusive to the Japanese market: the 1/48 scale DHC-2 [Showa] aircraft aboard the Antarctic research vessel Soya.
The DHC-2, a STOL aircraft that first flew in 1947, was in production for about 20 years and nearly 1,700 were built.
In Japan, they were operated by several airlines, and the Antarctic Research Expedition also used one aboard the Antarctic research vessel Soya, nicknamed "Showa," between the second and fifth expeditions.
This aircraft was used to withdraw the members of the first wintering team who were staying at Showa Base during the dispatch of the second wintering team in February 1958.
This limited edition product comes with three types of landing gear (wheels, skis and floats), etching parts, paint mask stickers and three decals (one each of the Japanese Antarctic Research Expedition [Showa], the Australian National Antarctic Research Expedition and the Ontario Provincial Air Service, Canada).
When completed, the total length will be approximately 194mm and the total width approximately 307mm.
