[About the actual car]
The Panzer IV series was one of the German main battle tanks used throughout World War II.
Originally conceived as a support tank, the relatively generous design of the vehicle proved to be a success, allowing it to accommodate a variety of improved capabilities, and many types were produced and saw action in various locations until the end of the war.
Of the many types of Panzer IV tanks, the first mass-produced was the Ausf. D. Over 200 were produced between October 1939 and May 1941.
It featured a linear hull and turret, a short-barreled 7.5cm KwK37/L24 main gun, and thicker armor on the sides and rear of the vehicle.
As the war progressed, it became apparent that the main guns were not powerful enough, so several Ausf. IV Ds were improved and vehicles fitted with the longer-barreled 7.5cm KwK.40/L43 gun were also produced, which led to their adoption on the Ausf. F and G.
