Product Description
[About the actual car]
In 1923, when the electrified section of the Tokaido Line was extended from Tokyo to Odawara, the Deha 43200 electric train was introduced to operate on this section.
Previously, the Ministry of Railways had only been responsible for short-distance commuter transport, but this model was equipped with box seats based on the structure of passenger cars, and was the Ministry of Railways' first medium- to long-distance electric train.
However, when the Great Kanto Earthquake occurred, plans for medium- to long-distance train service were thwarted, and within a few years of its introduction, it was converted into a commuter train and disappeared.
Because of its unfortunate and short lifespan, this train is sometimes called "A Certain Train," after the image of the luxury passenger cars imported from America by Kyushu Railway at the end of the Meiji period.
