The 500 series 7000-type trains were converted to run on the Kodama service between Shin-Osaka and Hakata in 2008, and began operating with a short 8-car formation. From autumn 2015 to March 2017, one train was given a special wrapping as part of the Shinkansen: Evangelion Project.

Wheel stop parts are attached to make it easier to place the vehicle on the rails and to prevent it from rolling.
In addition, there are contacts to eliminate flickering when the light is turned on.

[About the light being turned on]
When the light is turned on, a separately sold power supply unit, or power unit (controller), and DC feeder N (a cord that supplies power from the power unit to the rail) are required.
