Kyosho's Hang-On Racer series of 1/8-scale electric R/C bikes features a Semi-Direct Steering System (SDSS), which allows for fully autonomous driving, achieving overwhelming driving stability that sets it apart from conventional R/C bikes. Since its release in 1992, this beloved Hang-On Racer series has now been joined by a new addition! This model is based on the Yamaha YZR500, the bike on which American rider Kenny Roberts won his first title in the 500cc class of the 1978 World Grand Prix (WGP). Roberts debuted in the premier 500cc class that year, winning the championship in his first year and then winning three consecutive championships until 1980, earning him the title of "King Kenny." This is the first time the Yamaha YZR500 has been modeled in the Hang-On Racer series, and in order to accurately recreate its shape and every detail, we researched an existing 1978 model. Previous Hang-On Racer series models used an inverted shock absorber with the cylinder located at the top of the front suspension, but the YZR500 has been changed to an upright type like the real thing, enhancing realism and improving maneuverability. The chassis is renowned for its high level of finish, and the system that links the steering and rider figure achieves both a highly realistic cornering posture and maneuverability. The Hang-On Racer YAHAMA YZR500 1978, which recreates the 1978 YZR500 and rider Kenny Roberts that made its stunning debut, is an attractive kit that can be enjoyed not only by fans of the past, but by anyone who loves R/C bikes.
